Giovanni Arata is a freelance journalist.
He has a PhD in Information Systems and Organization from the University of Trento. He has taught at the University of Bologna and at the University of Magna Graecia. He has also held teaching positions at the University of California, San Diego.
He has written several papers, specifically regarding the adoption of IT in Courts, and the social impact in general of the Internet. Between 2006 and 2008 he acted as chief editor of the Quaderni di Giustizia e Organizzazione, a prominent scientific journal of the Centro per l’Organizzazione e il Management degli Uffici Giudiziari (COMIUG) of the University of Bologna.
In 2005 he was awarded an International Visitors Leadership Program by the US Department of State. This took him to California, where he visited and analyzed in depth the organization of the local State Courts.
In 2007 he started publishing newspaper articles on his topics of research. He currently collaborates as a freelance with Nova, Il Sole 24 Ore e Punto Informatico.
He is fluent in English, French, Spanish.
