Giusella Finocchiaro, founder of the Finocchiaro law firm, is Full Professor of Internet Law and Private Law at the University of Bologna.
She graduated cum laude in Law at the University of Bologna. PhD in Law at European University Institute. She has practised law since 1990, has been an attorney at law since 1997, and is admitted to plea before the Corte di Cassazione (the highest Italian Civil Court).
In addition to her University career, she co-operates in various scientific initiatives, at both national and international level.
She collaborates with the Bocconi University in Milan. She has been the Scientific Director of the “Executive Master in Security and Privacy” and of the Master’s programme in “Security of Information”, organized by Alma Graduate School (University of Bologna).
She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of Bologna.
She is also a member of the special National Commission on Copyright and New Technologies, within the Permanent Consulting Committee on Copyright established at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. She writes for the specialist economics newspaper “Il Sole 24 Ore”.
She is the Italian correspondent for various EU Commission projects. She is a member of the ENISA (European Network and Information Security Agency) Permanent Stakeholders Group and a member of the ENISA Working Group on Privacy and Technology. She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Privacy Institute. She is also a consultant for several law firms in Brussels.
She has been a consultant for the Italian Government and for the Russian Government, as a member of the Tacis Project on Electronic Commerce in Russia.
She is a former member of UNCITRAL (United Nations Commission on International Trade Law) as an expert on legal issues concerning the digital electronic signature.
Prof. Finocchiaro is the author of many publications in the field of Computer law and Internet law, among which are the following:
